Familial Diving on the home front

Went dumpster diving here in NY, took my mom along to show her how awesome it was, she mostly stayed in the car, but watched and realized how nuts it is. At a Trader J0es there was a frenzy, apparently the freegan scene is active here since there was a crew of guys digging through trash in a rush while the people brought it out and others carried it off to garbage trucks, you had to be fast, but they were all cooperating which is good times. Got home with a ton of stuff, made some stir fry, mom took some pictures (because of that, I'm not gonna list what I found):February 21

Hide and steal

Yesterday was Ultimate hide and seek. It took place in Grand Central Station so needless to say it was pretty fun, and subsequently shut down by the police.
This game was about avoidance and social stealth. I got to meet what seems to be a bunch of people from the current NY parkour scene, ran into a lot of friends and generally had a good time. Afterward we all reconvened at McDonald's for a bit, me and Shorty (a friend that shows up at these kind of events a lot and is an avid shoplifter) scammed some free drinks by getting a cup of water and abusing the self serve soda fountains. I had $0 with me and was starting to get hungry, earlier I had table dived some from some friends, but not that much.
The only reasonable thing was to go to whole foods. Shorty had brought a tote bag from a nearby book store so she could do some free shopping, I was wearing cargo pants as is the norm, Shorty's boyfriend had a back pack and a jacket so storage wasn't a problem for any of us. We came out with a wrap/burrito each and a few things we took for ourselves. Ended up eating well despite being broke the whole day :).

Food Not Bombs and other free stuffs

Today I went to Food Not Bombs for the first time. It was good times, I went with one of Kunoichi's roomies and when I got there I also ran into my friend TKJ (Dreads' and Gut's new roomie). It was an interesting experience; I cooked stir fry with this French girl and then took my bike downtown and met everyone to give out food. After we gave out food, I was told there was a party at the coop that night, so I took my bike back and waited for everyone there(it's faster than the subway most times).
The party was decent and TKJ stayed there so we chilled a lot, the music got good before we left so some dancing did go down (including a pretty cool bboy). However the best things were happening after we started to leave.
TKJ was a bit drunk and wanted McDonalds, I agreed after a bit of convincing since he was treating because I usually don't eat there. We got in line and started to wait when we spotted two drunk girls and this guy making a huuuuuge mess with their food, TKJ saw the opportunity and we took their seats as soon as they left. After sifting through some empty containers we found 4 nuggets, a full coke, part of a sandwich and a ton of fries, that with the sandwiches we ordered made the whole thing awesome. Before heading out TKJ filled the empty coke cup with ketchup and got a lid.
As we were walking home we noticed a bike leaning against a telephone pole unlocked! The chain was dead but the rest of it was nice so we walked it to TKJ's place where Dreads could probably fix it up in no time.
I continued past their place and decided to check a few dumpsters on the way home with the phone flashlight. All of them came up dry except the locked pharmacy dumpster, after squeezing in with my jacket on I was able to rescue:
10 Cans of Coke
2 Bars of White Chocolate
1 Bag of Brownie Mix
4 Chocolate Pudding
4 Strawberry Applesauce
1 Carton of Chai Tea Latte
I got home and Ting was just about to go out and get Coke so I got there just in time, I put everything away, ate a bit and headed to bed.

Tired legs at the end of a long day...

Longest day ever...
I actually woke up early despite knowing that I wouldn't go to class, no idea why, but of course I couldn't fall back into a nice dream, I ended up watching lost then making food etc, normal morning stuff. At around 11.30ish me and Kusa headed out on bikes to take part in this unusual event with Uberculture; we were reclaiming space in one of the buildings in the downtown campus. We all met up ahead of time and were briefed while we waited for a few people to show up.
A few weeks earlier I had received an email asking for artists to take part in something from an email address that I didn't recognize, I answered that I was a traceur if that was among the kind of artists they were looking for, after the reply I followed the instructions provided to me and ended up at the briefing. The idea behind the event was to reclaim the space in the building and show up the ridiculous security policy, everyone but me and Kusa brought instruments. We all splintered off into groups and enter the building from a variety of entrances and each person set about playing music where they say fit, once everyone was settled in me and Kusa found a nice spot and started training then moved around a bit until one of the coordinators told us the something happened related to security cameras and we had to stop, the rest was boring, just standing around while a few peeps played music.
Afterward Kusa and I headed to McGill for a protest but ended up being early, we went in and did some quick parkour then left to the protest, which frankly was boring and I won't really cover.
Thinking I could go relax a bit we went home a bit and just chilled for a bit before my phone rang. It was for a craigslist trade, a food swap. I put on something with longer sleeves and went out to trade. I gave some dumpsters fruits and veggies with a bit of bread in exchange for some rice, mashed potatoes and some pork and beans, not bad for a bunch of stuff I got for free.
I got home, watched the Fresh Prince a bit and planned on going on a bike run nearby then going to sleep. I start putting on my dumpstering clothes and just as I'm about to step out, I get a text from V, he wants me to be at the student bar tonight...
After some convincing I'm there in a t-shirt waiting in line, of course this opens the peeps next to me to start a conversation about how I should be cold and how I'm crazy for coming on a bike, hiding my coat on a roof and generally being a strange type of hardass. Turned out to be a pretty awesome night aside from being molest by this insane girl me and Kusa know; I met a cute girl who I was happy to see found me on facebook, I ran into a jillion friends, I danced all night but somehow didn't get covered in sweat and I ate pizza with two girls I had met the previous Thursday at their friends place before going home.
Needless to say my legs were tired from the day and I couldn't stay up long enough to write this in it's entirety (I finished it this morning).

Slack lines, samosas and cheap pants

Saturday night I needed to stay up late to fix up my sleep schedule so I went over to Kunoichi's place to see what was going on. She planned on going to an indoor slack line thing, it was good times and I practiced walking slack line, it's really nuts; some guys were jumping along the slack line and bouncing around like gazelles. I thought I'd catch on right away because of the parkour balancing that I'd done in the past but it's a very different concept I guess. Getting on to the high slack lines is ridiculously hard and I wasn't able to pull it off, but I did fall onto mats a bit. Later that night we went to a thrift store with Kunoichi's roomie, there I got a pair of summer Canadian BDU(or the Canadian equivalent to BDU) pants for a dollar, which is awesome, especially considering that Kunoichi plans to transform them into cyberpunk looking things for a photo shoot. While we were looking around at the different clothes (there's literally enough clothes to fill up a pool and they're arranged as though they've been thrown into one,) we meet some punk looking girls who told the funniest stories, after a while they'd filter back and forth through the store and one of them ended up buying samosas, some of which inevitably ended up in my mouth :D.

Chips, canes and Kusa's Cutie

Tonight I was at the student bar, but I wasn't having a good time since none of my friends were really dancing and Kusa was trying to hit on a girl I remember dancing with at a club who probably liked me. When Ting came with his friend and then got kicked out by the bouncer I decided to leave and dumpster when I get home instead of being bored. I got home changed into my sketchy dumpster clothes and headed out on the bike I brought home:
15 Bags of Chips, Nuts, Pretzels etc.
23 Boxes of Candy Canes (That's after stopping to drop maybe 10ish off at Kunoichi's and then heading back to get the rest).
1 Container of Wild Rice Salad.
Turns out it was a good idea to have gotten all the food because when I walked in the living room was full of people from the student bar who came home with Ting and Kusa, I tossed over two bags of chips and a box of candy canes, put everything away and chilled with them all until around 5.30 in the morning. Turns out things when well for Kusa with the girl even though he didn't seem to be making progress the whole night *shrug* so all's well that ends well. Time to sleep...

New Student, new ridiculous amounts of food

Tonight I went out with a friend who wanted to learn diving and to go diving so he could start up on his own. He's a big shoplifter so we'll call him thief. We both headed out on bikes with backpacks after splitting stuff up about halfway I ended up with:
4 Bok Choy
1 Green Bell Pepper
3 Bottles of Meal Replacement Drink
1 Can of Meal Replacement Powder Vanilla
2 Containers of Tzatziki
1 Container of Pesto
1 Container of Spinach Dip
1 Bag of Ketchup Chips
1 Can of B4iley's Chocolate
2 Small Loaves of Bread
7 Bars of Some Diet Chocolate
1 Pear
1 Four-pack of Fruitcups with Yogurt mixed in
2 Cans of Oven Roasted Onions
2 Heads of Broccoli
1 Bunch of Small Carrots
1 Z1p-lock of Mushrooms (we opened the container and divided them between us)
On another note, related to trash, I got a fine for putting out my trash at the wrong time, tsk tsk, it's BS since the fine was issued on trash day, and all the trash from my building is put out in the same place so it's much more likely that my neighbors trash was out at the wrong time considering how irregularly we take the trash out.
I'm contesting it.
